Indications for Receiving the "New" Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 Bivalent Booster Vaccine
A single booster dose of the "New" Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 Bivalent Vaccine may be administered at least 2 months after either: #1) The completion of your Primary Vaccination Series or #2) After receiving your most recent booster shot you had using any of the "original" authorized/approved COVID-19 Monovalent Vaccines. >Pfizer Bivalent Booster is available to those 12 years and older >Moderna Bivalent Booster is available to those 18 years and older The original COVID-19 Vaccine Primary Series consists of a two-shot sequence using one of the authorized/approved Monovalent COVID-19 Vaccines. Those who recently had a COVID-19 infection or a SARS-CoV-2 infection (within the last 3 months) may consider delaying their next booster dose by 3 months from the onset of symptoms or a positive test for COVID-19 if the infection was asymptomatic. The Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 Bivalent Booster Vaccine is currently indicated as a booster regardless of what Primary Series Vaccine was received. For example: If an individual's Primary COVID-19 Vaccination Series was completed using the Johnson & Johnson or Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine, one can be vaccinated with the new Pfizer COVID-19 Bivalent Booster Vaccine. >The Pfizer & Moderna Bivalent Vaccines are interchangeable to use. The CDC does authorize both the Pfizer and Moderna Bivalent Booster Vaccines and the Flu Vaccine (influenza) 2022-2023 to be given together at the same time.
